    The primary objective of these programs is to accelerate each student's language proficiency in English or Spanish across all domains: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and academic vocabulary. Our goal is to equip students with the linguistic skills needed to excel in classes conducted in either English or Spanish. Furthermore, we are dedicated to ensuring that every student achieves a level of proficiency in English or Spanish that enables them to actively engage in our comprehensive general education curriculum.

LITERACY SKILLS

The English Literacy Skills Program is an integrated curriculum providing students an opportunity to learn a second language using the same foundational skills and methodology as the ones used to learn their first language. Emphasizing reading comprehension and fluency, our program integrates discussion-based teaching, writing skills, and grammar within a functional context. Vocabulary acquisition occurs through context-rich texts, enriching the language learning experience. Additionally, our curriculum extends literacy skills to subjects like history, geography, and science, fostering proficiency levels approaching native speaker competence.

Furthermore, the program incorporates Core Knowledge materials from Amplify, enhancing the learning journey. These resources complement our curriculum, enriching the understanding of the English language while maintaining a focus on reading comprehension and fluency. By integrating Amplify's Core Knowledge materials, our program aims to elevate students to levels of proficiency comparable to native speakers.
